Pomegranate seeds

For centuries, pomegranates have been revered for their medicinal powers, but only recently has science started to catch up and validate all the health benefits this fruit offers. Pomegranate seed oil, often called a “youth elixir,” is packed with antioxidant-rich Omega 5 punicic acid, which helps protect against free radical damage and slow down the signs of ageing.
But that’s not all—pomegranate seed oil also contains equol, an isoflavonoid shown to help protect against skin cancer. In one study, equol significantly reduced the risk of skin cancer in mice exposed to harmful carcinogens. Pretty impressive, right?
Beyond skin benefits, pomegranates also help support heart health. They’re known to lower blood pressure and reduce inflammation, both of which are linked to heart disease. This is especially important as blood pressure tends to rise with age, and free radical damage can contribute to diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
One of the secrets behind pomegranates’ powerful antioxidant effects is a compound called urolithin A. While pomegranate seeds don’t directly contain this, they do have a precursor that your gut microbes convert into the active compound. Research shows that worms given urolithin A lived 45% longer, and with all the other anti-ageing goodness packed into those little seeds, it’s clear why pomegranates are a must-add to your diet!
